电视台风云

妻子的死给电视台王牌主播霍华德（彼得·芬奇 Peter Finch 饰）带来了沉重的打击，使他陷入痛苦和悲伤中无法自拔。电视台决定解雇已经无心工作的霍华德，霍华德的老朋友麦克斯（威廉·霍尔登 William Holden 饰）成为了传达这一噩耗的不二人选。得知自己即将被解雇，为电视台做牛做马多年的霍华德十分愤怒，在第二天的节目上，他竟然向观众们预告，自己即将进行自杀直播。霍华德的这一出格举动惹恼了电视台的高层，更让一直对麦克斯心存不满的总裁弗兰克（罗伯特·杜瓦尔 Robert Duvall 饰）发现了找茬的机会。在隔天的新闻直播中，霍华德理应按计划对自己的不慎言行做出道歉，可是恼羞成怒的他却大放厥词，将矛头直指当代美国的种种弊端。女制片人戴安娜（费·唐纳薇 Faye Dunaway 饰）从霍华德的一系列行为中看出了商机，她买通了弗兰克，成为了霍华德背后的推手。

Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
