Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 约翰．卡彭特导演的这部科幻片并没有强调特技噱头，反而将重心放在异乡人的主题上，而且拍出了相当浪漫动人的气氛，甚至可以将它当作一部取外星人为主角的文艺片来欣赏。杰夫．布里奇斯饰演一名纯真的外星人，他的宇宙飞船被地救人击落，掉在威斯康辛州的荒野。他负伤来到新近丧偶的寡妇凯伦艾的家中，并且借用她丈夫的身体来延续生命。在学习地球人的生活方式过程中，他跟寡妇发生了感情。外星人的救援队将在三天后到达亚历桑纳州接他回外层空间，他需要寡妇开车送他到那里。地球上的两位政府官员也接获讯息，他们决定不管生死都要捉住外星人，因而引发了一场精彩的拉锯战。
