好像一切都很糟糕

Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.  李维杰（肖央 饰）与妻子阿玉（谭卓 饰）来泰打拼17年，膝下育有两个女儿，年届四十的他靠开设网络公司为生，为人也颇得小镇居民的好感，而这一切美好却被突如其来的不速之客打破。这个充斥走私，贩毒活动的边陲小镇，各种权力交织碾压公平正义。李维杰的大女儿平平（许文珊 饰）被督察长拉韫（陈冲 饰）的儿子素察（边天扬 饰）迷奸，因反抗误杀对方。李维杰曾亲眼目睹督察长滥用私刑，深知法律无用，为了维护女儿，捍卫家人，李维杰埋尸掩盖一切证据，在时间与空间的交错缝隙中，与警方在身心层面，展开了殊死一搏的较量。
